The name of Dr. Farhat Hashmi needs no introduction in the field of Islamic Studies. Building on a strong religious family background, Dr. Farhat went on to acquire a Ph.D in Islamic Studies from Glasgow University Scotland and has had the advantage of having interacted with various renowned religious scholars of the Muslim world. She has also taught Islamic Studies in various capacities at the International Islamic University, Islamabad. Years of acquiring authentic knowledge in her subject, led her to cherish and finally realize her dream of opening her own Islamic center from where she could impart Islamic knowledge and present a true understanding of the Divine Revelation – the Quran and Sunnah. She is the Concept designer and founder of her Brain Child AL HUDA International Welfare Foundation, an Authentic source of pure Islamic knowledge at nation-wide and International level. i want to ask you some questions and some help? pls tell me where to post my questions sister. I have committed a horrible sin – i have sweared on the Quran and it was all lies. I want to repent now. i really want to repent because i cannot bear Allah’s anger. Pls help me. pls tell me what can i do. How can i save myself from hell fire.

Dear Sister Naima,
Please do not be distressed and do not despair the mercy of Allah. Indeed he is oft forgiving and merciful.
In Islam, there is no concept of confession to others to get your sins forgiven. Your relation with Allah is direct and personal and you only need to admit your sin and sincerely cry and repent in front of Allah only and then never to repeat that sin again.
It is better to pray nafil prayers to ask for forgiveness and also do sadqa – charity as it erases sins. However , if your act has led to some distress or loss to another Muslim, then you need to ask his/ her forgiveness and try to undo the damage by telling the truth.
so sincerely repent and try to undo the damage caused by your lies and Inshallah Allah will forgive you.
